Rules
for the Classification of Fast Patrol Vessels - HADASSA
"Rules for the Classification of Fast
Patrol Vessels - HADASSA", 2007 edition,
contain the requirements for those units
which, because of high performance or
reduced size, normally fall outside the
applicability limits of standard naval
classification Rules.
Derived from the ad-hoc Rules developed
and successfully applied for the
Classification of the Italian Coast
Guard fleet, the Rules are the result of
the experience gained in survey during
construction and classification of more
than 500 FPVs owned by different Navies
and Administrations, mixed with the
know-how deriving from classification
of High Speed Craft.
Encompassing a novel approach, which
takes into account special features
of Fast Patrol Vessels, such as high
performance propulsion plants, or the
need to operate in the most critical
conditions to perform rescue operations
or fire fighting support, the Rules set
very high-level standards for units ranging
from Rigid-hull Inflatable Boats up to
65 meter patrol vessels, built in steel,
aluminium alloy or composite materials.
Advisory Services for FPVs
RINA advisory services are available to all
vessels, whether or not classed by RINA.
They completely cover the life cycle of
the vessel, and may be subdivided in
three main categories:
Pre-contractual services
e.g. analyzing or preparing
contractual specifications,
or performing a condition survey
of an existing vessel before procurement
Post-contractual services
such as project management and survey
during construction on behalf of the owner
(Quality Assurance), type approval
of products, testing or inspection of single
systems and components or fire tests
Advanced Engineering Studies
such as: dynamic analysis by means
of full Finite Element Model of the vessels
to predict structural response
and vibration and noise behaviour,
evaluation of the redundancy
of propulsion and other main systems,
crew safety and health studies,
human reliability and task analyses
In addition RINA offers a wide set of
training courses dealing with general
design aspects, ship management,
international conventions, and RINA
Rules for Fast Patrol Vessels.
