Chances are if you are machining you can benefit from Broken Tool Detection. The BK Mikro broken tool detectors are designed to stop your machine immediately after your tool breaks which will prevent secondary tooling damage and machine crashes as well as prevent unfinished parts from getting to your customer. Many of our customers are required to have a system in place that verifies critical features are machined on their parts. The BK Mikro ensures that the tool is still present and that the part is not going to get out the door without an important feature.

      

  
  Simple, reliable tool monitoring every machine cycle
The BK MIKRO scanner mounts near your tool. It is the only tool contact sensor that actually "learns" the position of your tool through its unique encoder system and stores this location in its memory. The scanner quickly rotates its scanning wand on every cycle of your machine, checking for tool presence.
How it works

The BK Mikro systems all utilize a servo motor and encoder which "Learn" the position of the tool or object that you want to check using a wand or probe. This position is then stored in memory and checked after every cycle to verify that the tool is still present within a certain window. If the wand or probe doesn't make it to the position or travels past the learned position the BK Mikro controller outputs a fault signaling that the tool is broken. This fault is interfaced to your machines control which then stops the machine ensuring that the machine doesn't crash and also prevents bad parts from being manufactured. Where to use it
The BK Mikro scanners are designed to the highest standards and made specifically to be used in the harshest machining environments. The scanners are equipped with "Viton" seals and have a rating of IP 67 which allows for full submersion up to 1 meter.

Object or Free space monitoring: To verify a part is either present in a spindle or has been cut off or ejected from a spindle.

Part ID: Verify the correct part is loaded into the machine by touching a unique feature on that part to verify it is correct
